Sausage and Peppers

Sausage and peppers simmering in red sauce is so easy to make and can be placed in pretty much whatever vessel you want it with whether it be rolls, a bed of pasta or even rice! This one pot recipe is so simple and it comes out tender and delicious every time.

Ingredients

  • 12 Italian sausages
  • 2 Peppers, chopped
  • 1 Large onion, chopped
  • 2 Jars of your favorite tomato sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp Crushed Red Pepper
  • 2 Tbsp Olive oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large pot/dutch oven on medium high.
  2. When oil is hot, place sausages in batches in the pot and brown on both sides.
  3. Remove sausages and set aside once browned.
  4. Add remaining tablespoon of olive oil to the pot and add chopped vegetables.
  5. Season peppers and onion with salt and pepper.
  6. Stir vegetables until theyre slightly softened and have a little brown on them, about 10 minutes.
  7. Add back in the sausages and the juices.
  8. Add tomato sauce.
  9. Add crushed red pepper and Italian seasoning.
  10. Season with salt for taste.
  11. Bring to a boil and then turn to low and cover with a lid for about 1-2 hours.
  12. Serve with whatever carb you prefer!
